Legislation that would ban the sale of dietary supplements containing ephedra, which has been linked to multiple medical problems, is one step closer to being enacted.
On April 9, SB 582, introduced by Sen. Jackie Speier, D-San Francisco, seeking to outlaw the sale of ephedra-containing products in California, was approved 9-2 without debate by the Senate Health and Human Services Committee, the California Healthcare Foundation reported in its April 10 newsletter.
