This year's "Armory Show: The International Fair of New Art," held in New York, Mar. 7-10, at Hudson River Piers 88 and 90, featured works from 174 contemporary art galleries. Its opening-night gala raised $200,000 to benefit MOMA's exhibition fund, and 23,700 visitors attended the fair during its run. Armory Show director Katelijne De Backer reported that, despite the dismal economy and prewar malaise, sales for most galleries were strong; some participants sold out their booths.
