NEW YORK -- Michael Kors signaled a clear determination to become a major player in the men's market last week when the company recruited Don Witkowski from Nautica Enterprises to become president of its Collection Menswear division.

The appointment comes three months after deep-pocketed investors Silas Chou and Lawrence Stroll, through their investment vehicle, Sportswear Holdings Ltd., acquired an 85 percent controlling interest in Michael Kors. "When Silas and I acquired the company, we targeted the men's business as a huge opportunity for growth," said Stroll, co-chairman of Michael Kors LLC, in a statement.
