April 21, 2003 - Testa Architects, of Santa Monica, California, in collaboration with the New York City engineering office of Arup Advanced Technology Group, has designed the Carbon Tower, an all-composite concept office tower intended to prove that such buildings are feasible in composites, and in the present. It breaks new ground in the potential use of composite materials and is a bold gesture in architecture. The team has been pursuing new structural systems for future construction, an effort that began under Testa's direction while he still was at The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
