Atlanta, GA-based Coca-Cola's volume share of the 2002 U.S. soft drink market climbed 0.6 percentage points to 44.3%, fueled by the growth of Diet Coke and the introduction of Vanilla Coke, according to Beverage Digest/Maxwell. Purchase, NY--based PepsiCo's market share, on the other hand, declined 0.2 percentage points to 31.4% after a solid performance in 2001, when the company benefited from its introduction of Mountain Dew Code Red and other products, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
