The City Council wades into two controversial real estate development issues this week.
Tuesday, the debate over the proposed Olympic stadium on Manhattan's far West Side will take center stage as the council holds a hearing on the land use implications of the 2012 Olympics. Stadium opponents have scheduled a protest on the steps of City Hall an hour before the hearing begins.
If New York wins the 2012 Olympics, several sites would require city land use approval. In addition to a West Side stadium, other venues that would require city action include an Olympic village in Queens West; canoeing and rowing venues in Flushing ...
