COLORADO SPRINGS -- The Iraq conflict demonstrated the nation's new approach to fighting wars, which dramatically reduced casualties, the nation's highest military officer said Thursday.
Gen. Richard Myers cited precision weapons and advanced intelligence in telling Air Force Academy cadets that the Iraq war has shown them the future.
Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, presented the Ira C. Eaker guest lecture on national defense policy, named after an air power pioneer who commanded Allied air forces in the Mediterranean during World War II.
