A moneylender calls to collect a debt from an old man with a beautiful daughter. The man does not have the money. The moneylender proposes a deal. The driveway is covered with black and white pebbles. The moneylender will put one white and one black pebble in a bag. The daughter will pick one out. If it is white the debt is cancelled; if black the debt is cancelled, but the man must let the moneylender marry his daughter. She sees the moneylender surreptitiously put two black pebbles in the bag, but agrees to his suggestion because she sees a way to outwit him. How?
