Frank Cabot fell into gardening, quite literally, and he has been immersed in the world of plants and gardens ever since. What caused the three-year-old to end up at the bottom of a large, circular stone watering trough is unclear, but more than 75 years later two points remain vivid in his memory: that he was in trouble for drenching his fancy new pink suit, and that the trough, which had been converted to ornamental purposes, offered more than a mere surface for sailing toy boats.
