May 6--CHECK CASHERS MUST POST FEES: The Pennsylvania Department of Banking yesterday issued a reminder to check-cashing outlets operating in the state that they are required to post their fees or face fines of up to $2,000 per offense.
"Check cashers must fully and clearly disclose all of the fees and charges for their services to every customer or potential customer in a way that is understandable," said William Schenck, banking department chief. Check cashers are being given 30 days to comply, he said.
