May 6--San Diego International Airport will lose 52 checkpoint and baggage screener positions as part of work-force cutbacks the Transportation Security Administration is making nationwide.
Agency officials said last week that $280 million would be saved nationally as part of the plan to cut 6,000 screeners at 243 airports.
The cutbacks will reduce staffing at Lindbergh Field's three terminals from the 630 initially authorized to 578, the administration announced. At McClellan-Palomar Airport in Oceanside, the number of screener positions will be reduced from ...
