His breath steamed on the cold air, and an occasional gust of wind spat rain and harbor water against the dining tent while Randy Gomes shared a couple of sugary elephant ears with his family at Pier 62/63 yesterday.
He said a sense of cultural obligation brought him to Seattle's first Cinco de Mayo festival, where he could celebrate his Mexican heritage someplace other than a restaurant packed with people reeking of salsa and beer.
"There's not a lot of Mexican stuff here, but it's OK. The mariachi band is nice," said Gomes of Shoreline. "It would probably be more fun if the sun was out."
