Blending science and sports, Dr. Dan Russell of Kettering University is researching the physics of composite baseball and softball bats for CE-Composites Baseball Inc., one of Canada's leading producers of composite hockey sticks.
Composite baseball and softball bats, all the rage for the non-professional athlete, can be "tuned" for better performance, according to Russell, an associate professor of Applied Physics at the Flint, Mich., university.
