AS NOTEBOOKS GO, THE IBM ThinkPad R Series isn't a performance standout, but its attractive price and awesome battery life make this notebook line a smart choice for occasional home or business travelers on a budget.
You can choose the R Series with a Celeron, Pentium III-M, or Pentium 4-M processor running anywhere from 1.06GHz to 1.8GHz. Main memory is available in two types--133MHz SDRAM, or faster 266MHz DDR SDRAM--in amounts from 128MB up to 1GB. The 4,200rpm hard drives hold 20GB, 30GB, or 40GB of data, and active-matrix LCD screens come in 13.3- or 14.1-inch sizes.
