STAR OF THE GAME: New York 2B Alfonso Soriano, who had a single and a two-run homer in the Yankees' 10-run third inning.
PLAY OF THE GAME: Hideki Matsui hit a bases-loaded single with one out in the third, two runs scoring after an error and miscommunication between Mariners fielders.
