So you finally got a digital camera and you're looking to print some nice family photos. Regular inkjets can do the job, but you've been eyeing a pricier dedicated photo printer.
Are these photo-oriented inkjets worth the extra cash? To find out, we put six of them to the test--three consumer and three higher-end hobbyist models from Canon U.S.A., Epson America, and Hewlett-Packard. Not surprisingly, most of the models succeeded where it counted--outputting fine photo prints--but we also noted trade-offs over conventional inkjets, such as slower print speeds and, in some cases, subpar quality for other printing tasks.
