Article: Child Drowning Deaths Continue to Decline Dramatically, According to Palm Beach County Drowning Prevention Coalition.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., May 14 /PRNewswire/ -- The fatality rate for children drowning has been reduced by a remarkable 73% over the last three years, according to statistics just released by the Palm Beach County Drowning Prevention Coalition.

The dramatic decrease from 15 in 1999 to 4 deaths in 2002 for children under age of eighteen is attributed to grants from the Quantum Foundation, Children's Services Council and other funders, coordinated by the Coalition. "This program has been extremely successful in educating and protecting our county's children," stated, Rae Christy, program manager of the Coalition.
