T-mobile sees 1Q profit up 20 % at CZK 1 bn

Prague. May 15. INTERFAX EUROPE - T-Mobile, the country's second largest mobile operator, posted a net profit of CZK 1 bn in 1Q 2003, up 20 % yr/yr, the company announced Thursday.

Revenues grew 10 % yr/yr to CZK 5.7 bn in the monitored period. Gross profit (EBITDA) went up 16 % yr/yr to CZK 2.8 bn.

"[First quarter] results exceeded our expectations," says T-Mobile CFO Otakar Kral, adding that a merger with Germany's T-Mobile and higher interest in data services had a positive effect on the results.
