Ixtapa, Mexico (Sports Network) - Defending champion Pablo del Olmo fired a seven-under 65 on Thursday to take the lead midway through the Ixtapa Classic. He stands at 12-under-par 132 and owns a one-shot lead over Derek Gillespie at Palma Real Golf Club.
Andrew Barnes (67), Miguel Guzman (66) and Clint Jensen (67) share third place at 10-under-par 134.
Del Olmo is in position to become the first player on the Canadian Tour to successfully defend a title since Brian Kontak won the Henry Singer Alberta Open in 1998 and 1999. Del Olmo freely admits that course knowledge plays a huge part in his success ...
