Forty-three feet is all that separates a pitcher from a batter in college softball, and that distance can seem even shorter when there's a line drive hit up the middle.
Just ask Penn State junior pitcher Marisa Hanson.
"I didn't see it until it was right in front of my face," Hanson said.
Hanson, the Nittany Lions' top pitcher, started an April 19th game against Michigan State and retired the leadoff hitter with ease.
Up next was Sandy Lewis, who drilled a liner that connected with Hanson's face and broke both sides of her jaw.
