Ian Han arrived in Australia as a refugee in 1981 and, with his wife, Tram, opened the first Han's Cafe in 1995. Since opening that first restaurant in Western Australia, another 14 similar franchised restaurants have opened, the latest one at Westfield Galleria in Morley. Han and his wife own four of the restaurants, including the 600-seat Morley one, and they are planning for another three restaurants in Perth.
