The Christ Church has been a fixture downtown since 1835 and became the cathedral for the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio in 1993, but has never had any bells. On Saturday, that will change.
Church officials have organized a street party, complete with clowns and refreshments, to allow people to watch as a crane hoists into place the 14 bronze bells. They collectively weigh about 11,000 pounds, ranging individually from 116 pounds to 1,990 pounds.
