One hundred years ago this month, one of America's favorite performers made his entrance into a world that would forever be changed by his presence. Legendary comedian Bob Hope turns 100 years old on May 30. Known for his stand-up routines, self-deprecating humor and commitment to U.S. service members, Hope's long and successful life is one to celebrate.
Bob Hope was born Leslie Townes Hope on May 29, 1903, in Eltham, England. His parents immigrated to Cleveland, Ohio, in 1907. Growing up, Hope held such jobs as delivery boy, shoe salesman, pool hustler, newspaper reporter and even amateur boxer, under the name Packy East.
