A.M. Best Co. has assigned a "bbb" rating to the $125 million 6.25% senior unsecured notes to be issued by AmerUs Group Co. (NYSE:AMH) (Des Moines, IA) as part of its PRIDES(SM) mandatorily convertible securities offering.

Concurrently, the financial strength rating of A (Excellent) on AmerUs Group's core life insurance subsidiaries has been affirmed.
