Twice this season, Churchill's Jodi Parmer has led off a game with a home run.
"It's hard to follow," said Rachel Steigleman, who hits behind Parmer in the lineup. "It makes you want to hit one, but then I have to tell myself to calm down and just try to get a base hit. If you try to hit a home run, you will pop out."
Churchill's softball team may not try to hit home runs, but they are doing so at an astounding rate. The Lancers have 14 home runs this season in a sport usually dominated by pitching.
