BEIJING, May 27 Asia Pulse - The Chinese mainland reported eight new SARS cases between 10:00 a.m. May 25 and 10:00 a.m. May 26, the lowest number nationwide since the government started reporting daily on April 20.
The figure, which included five new cases in Beijing, also a record low for the capital, represented a continued downward trend of the outbreak in the country.
However, the threat of the disease was still severe and local health departments could not relax, said Gao Qiang, vice-minister of health.
