The moment Marist leadoff hitter Shannon Stacy walked onto the field, she could tell it was playoff time.
"A lot of intensity," Stacy said. "The pressure of knowing we had to win to go on really turns up the intensity."
Stacy did her part, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored to help No. 9 Marist knock off Brookings 3-0 on Monday in the first round of the Class 3A state softball playoffs at Marist High School.
Marist now travels to meet fifth-ranked Sherwood, champions of the Tri-Valley League, on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
