VIRGINIA BEACH - With the Eastern Region softball championship at stake, Princess Anne was at its best, while Kellam stumbled on Friday.
In the fifth game of the season between the Beach District rivals, Princess Anne (24-2) won 8-1 for its second straight region title.
"That's probably the best game we've played,'' said Princess Anne coach Dennis Nixon, whose team climbed to 3-1-1 against Kellam this year.
"The girls had heard some talk and really wanted to prove who was best. We hit the ball the way I thought we would all season. We're peaking at a perfect time.''
