Consumption of drinking water in Chile fell by 0.45% in the 12-month period to April 2003 compared with the same period a year earlier, according to Siss, Chile's water and sanitation services regulator. Consumption rose by 3.1% in April 2003 compared with April 2002. In the metropolitan region, drinking water consumption increased by 1.3%. The sharpest increases in the area were registered by Aguas Manquehue (7.25%), Servicomunal (6.66%), Servicio Municipal de Agua Potable de Maipu (Smapa) (3.28%), Aguas Cordillera (0.99%) and Aguas Andinas (0.99%). ...
