It would be natural for any soccer goalie to admit that he or she becomes nervous when faced with a penalty kick situation.
But not Cary-Grove junior Sarah McLaughlin.
Nope. Cary-Grove's spark plug goalie, all 5-feet-5 inches of her, has a much different take on the whole penalty kicks deal.
"Shootouts (penalty kicks) are kind of fun actually," said McLaughlin. "I'm confident in those situations. I know my teammates will make them. So all I have to do is save one of them."
McLaughlin, a three-year varsity starter, has done a lot more than save just a few here and there this year.
