The long-awaited opening of the Nissan plant is finally here, but local real estate developers and agents say the jury is still out on how the mammoth plant and its suppliers will affect the local real estate market.
Will land values in Madison County continue to rise? Will there be a flurry of home building in the county to accommodate the thousands of workers converging on Central Mississippi? And will the plants attract a cluster of new businesses?
"The quantity of need is elusive," said David Cox of E. David Cox Realty in Madison. "We have to wait and see, but historic drive patterns of Nissan show a lot of long distance commutes."
