RESCUE teams sifted through smouldering wreckage yesterday after a head- on train smash left up to 27 people dead.
A passenger train crashed into a freight engine - then high tension wires fell on the wreck, setting off a fierce blaze.
Most of the victims burned to death. Another 38 people were taken to hospital after the accident late on Tuesday night in Spain.
