Rep. Sherwood Boehlert reversed his position on a controversial abortion procedure by voting Wednesday to ban "partial-birth" abortions.
The switch put Boehlert, an abortion-rights Republican throughout his career, in the majority as the House voted 282-139 in favor of the ban. The Senate has already approved its own version of the legislation, which is also supported by President Bush.
Reps. James Walsh, R-Onondaga, and John McHugh, R-Pierrepont Manor, both voted in favor of the ban, as they have in the past.
