Pete Amundson says that in a few weeks he and Will Bortz, Milwaukee Marquette's No. 1 singles player, will be allies once again, stepping onto the court together as doubles partners.

But at the WIAA Division 1 state boys tennis singles tournament, which starts today at Nielsen Tennis Stadium, Amundson will be seeking payback against his summer partner, to whom he has lost twice this season.

"I always tend to peak at this time," said Amundson, who plays No. 1 singles for Madison La Follette. "I love playing at Nielsen, I love the atmosphere of state. I really like this time of year."
