Russia suspends nuclear fuel supplies to Iran
MOSCOW. June 6 (Interfax) - Russia will not deliver any fresh nuclear fuel to Iran in the near future, a high-ranking Nuclear Power Ministry official told Interfax.
"No supplies of Russian nuclear fuel are expected to made [to Iran] for the next few months," he noted.
The absence of an agreement requiring Iran to return spent nuclear fuel to Russia is seen as the main reason behind the suspension.
The official said that according to technological standards, nuclear fuel has to be delivered six months before a power generating unit is expected to be put into operation. "However, as the start ...
