Egypt has decided not to join a complaint before the World Trade Organization against the European Union's de facto moratorium on approvals of new genetically modified (GM) crops, an environmental group in Europe said May 28.
Egypt was one of four countries named as joint complainants by U.S. Trade Representative Robert Zoellick May 13 when he told a press conference in Washington, D.C., that the much-delayed challenge to the EU's five-year ban would go ahead. He made the announcement with a representative of the Egyptian government at his side.
