Jun. 10--Estee Lauder retired eight years ago from the cosmetics company she founded, but her elegant 40th-floor corner office, with its hand-painted Chinese wallpaper and breathtaking views of Central Park, remains the way she left it.

Family photographs are displayed behind her green leather-topped desk, and pictures of her with dignitaries such as Ronald and Nancy Reagan and the late Cardinal John O'Connor sit next to the large L-shaped creamy silk couch. Compacts, plaques and dried flowers haven't been touched.
