Rumors are swirling inside healthcare investment banking circles as to how much HealthSouth Corp. is really worth-at least by the standards of PricewaterhouseCoopers International Ltd.
At the end of the month, HealthSouth's new auditor is expected to release details of its review of HealthSouth's operations, according to a regulatory filing by the company. What Pricewaterhouse has to say is likely to affect both HealthSouth's ability to stave off bankruptcy and its planned sale of some business units, notably the diagnostic imaging unit, which bankers said has already been shopped to possible buyers.
