A kitchen stone gathers no moss. Or burns. Or water. Or bits of pastry.
As television shows and magazines tout the benefits of natural stone surfaces, granite and marble are reaching a larger audience and becoming more popular in metro Detroit.
Once marketed to only the most-exclusive home owners, marble and granite surfaces have come down in price. Now, more midrange homes include granite work.
In addition, local designers and consumers have become more informed and creative in how they use natural stone.
