Judging from my mail, I'm far from alone in believing that there ought to be a weekend moratorium on truck traffic.
Some old-fashioned letters and a flurry of e-mails seconded my suggestion that we return to those days of yesteryear when tractor-trailer combinations were banned on Sundays and holidays on busy highways, giving the family sedan a respite from the behemoths that have all but taken over the roadways.
Admittedly, those bans applied to two-lane highways before the interstate system was built to relieve them of incredible congestion. Area highways 12 and 14 were two examples.
But the interstate has now become as congested. And ...
