The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) has unveiled plans to begin conducting unannounced accreditation surveys beginning January 2006. The new process, which JCAHO calls "Shared Visions-New Pathways," establishes the expectation that all accredited entities should maintain full compliance with JCAHO standards at all times.
