This August 22nd, will mark the 100th anniversary of British folk song collector Cecil Sharp's first folk song notation. On that date in 1903, Sharp notated "The Seeds of Love" from John England in Hambridge village in Somerset. England was the gardener of the village' s vicar, Charles Marson. Sharp and Marson went on to collect several dozen songs in the following weeks. Their further collecting in Somerset led to the regeneration of the Folk Song Society and a general regional folk revival.
