While most kids his age were playing ball, Chas Duff, a 14-year-old from Chatsworth, CA, was busy transforming a locker room at a high school for juvenile offenders into the school's first library. In recognition of his work, the eighth grader at Sierra Canyon School was one of 10 recipients of the 2003 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, which honor students ages 10-18 who perform exemplary volunteer efforts to aid people in difficult circumstances.
