For me and filmgoers all over the world, Gregory Peck, who died yesterday at the age of 87, will always be Atticus Finch, the crusading country lawyer, widower and loving father who takes on an incendiary case involving a wrongly accused black man (Brock Peters) in a small town in 1930s Alabama.
