It was gratifying to learn that Gregory Peck's death was a peaceful one. With his wife, Veronique, at his bedside, he died at his home in Beverly Hills two days ago. The famous actor, 87, one of Hollywood's most attractive and reliable leading men for more than a generation, had hosted a cycle of interviews at that residence in 1991, before being honored for his career by both the Film Society of Lincoln Center and the Kennedy Center.
