Playwright Craig Lucas has a knack for writing works that include emotional extremes. His movies, "Longtime Companion" and "Prelude to a Kiss," and his plays, "The Dying Gaul" and "Reckless," encompass humor, sorrow and rage. A brief conversation with Lucas is also an amalgam of funny and troubling stories.
I was talking to Lucas in a Lower Queen Anne coffee shop recently; the topic was supposedly his latest work, "Light in the Piazza," a musical opening tonight at Intiman Theatre. Lucas wrote the book for the show, and he directed the Intiman production.
