Sometimes the journey toward innovation starts in one direction and ends up in another.
Take Gordo's Queso Loco, for example. This Mexican-style cheese dip, made by Lake City, Ga.-based Charley and Sons, was designed as a heat-and-eat food product. Its success, therefore, relied heavily on its packaging.
The company's initial goal was a convenient product-in-a-pouch approach, according to Chuck Sweat, president of Charley and Sons, part of the KACHWA Food Group.
