Primo Convegno Nazionale sulla Camelia da Te, the First Italian Conference on the tea Camellia was held in Lucca on March 22, 2003. This conference, sponsored by the Province of Lucca and the Municipality of Capannori, was part of the 14th annual exhibition and festival of camellias organized by the Cultural Centre of Compito, which, for the past seven years, has also included tea. The place of the venue was in the Maria Luisa Hall of the old ducal palace within the fortress walls of Lucca, in Tuscany. The conference was followed by a visit to the camellia and tea exhibition spread out between Pieve di Compito and Sant'Andrea di Compito where the plants are actually grown. ...
