More than 3 million young people from all 50 states and the District of Columbia planned and participated in service projects on National Youth Service Day (NYSD) 2003, which is held annually in April.
Many local governments and community organizations joined with youth, schools, non-profit groups, faith-based institutions and citizens to organize and carry out these projects.
Dallas
In Dallas, more than 700 youth participated on NYSD. This turnout well exceeded the 300 registrants expected by the Youth Services Office and Youth Commission.
