Jun. 16--FORT WORTH, Texas--The union representing assembly workers at Fort Worth-based Bell Helicopter Textron Inc. approved a new three-year contract Sunday and averted a possible strike.
The workers -- members of Local 218 of the United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America -- voted 1,176 to 326 to accept the contract. If the contract had not been approved, workers were set to walk off the job after midnight Sunday.
